02 / BUILDING INTELLIGENCE
What Metareal does
Buildings contain enormous amounts of useful information, but most of that information remains difficult for software systems to interpret.
Current multimodal AI models can recognize objects and describe individual images, but reliable building intelligence requires something more demanding: metric geometry, multi-view consistency, persistent spatial relationships and domain-specific classification.
Metareal is developing the technology and training data required to bridge that gap.
Starting with a small set of photographs captured throughout a building, Metareal can reconstruct its spatial structure and generate outputs ranging from interactive digital environments to floorplans, CAD/BIM files and structured building data.
The long-term objective is to provide a spatial intelligence layer that allows software and AI systems to understand the built environment in a reliable, scalable way.

03 / HOW IT WORKS
Technology
Fast photographic capture
Metareal is designed around lightweight photographic capture rather than specialized scanning equipment.
A building can be documented using ordinary 360° imagery or supported mobile devices, substantially reducing the time, equipment and training required for field capture.
Metric 3D reconstruction
Metareal reconstructs the geometry and spatial relationships between captured locations, producing a coherent representation of rooms, floors and buildings rather than treating photographs as isolated images.
Building-specific AI
Metareal develops AI models specifically for the built environment, including systems for image orientation, spatial reconstruction, classification and increasingly automated extraction of structured building information.
Proprietary training data
Metareal’s technology is supported by a proprietary dataset accumulated through years of real-world building digitization.
The dataset includes more than 100,000 buildings, 2.2 million images and approximately one million reconstructed rooms and spaces, with geometric and semantic information unavailable in conventional image datasets.

Gareth Morgan is the co-founder and CEO of Metareal and a product strategist and UX designer with more than 30 years of experience developing digital products and enterprise software.
At Metareal, he leads product strategy, commercialization and the company’s work on applying spatial computing and artificial intelligence to the built environment.
Alexandre Jean-Claude
CTO & Co-founder
Alexandre Jean-Claude is a member of Metareal’s leadership team, with responsibility for the company’s technology and product development.
