ABOUT METAREAL

We’re teaching machines to understand buildings.

Buildings contain an enormous amount of useful information, but most of it is still locked inside physical spaces, drawings, photographs and disconnected systems.

Metareal is building the technology to change that.

We develop AI and spatial computing technology that transforms ordinary photographic capture into accurate, structured information about the built environment — from room geometry and floorplans to spatial relationships, building components and classified data.

Our goal is simple: make buildings as understandable to software as text and images are today.

01 / OUR STORY

From virtual spaces to building intelligence

Metareal began with a practical problem: creating accurate digital representations of buildings was too slow, too expensive and too dependent on specialized scanning equipment.

We built a different approach.

Using ordinary cameras and lightweight capture workflows, Metareal Stage made it possible to reconstruct buildings in 3D, create virtual tours, generate floorplans and export useful spatial data without proprietary scanning hardware.

That technology has since been used to digitize more than 100,000 buildings, producing millions of spatially connected images and approximately a million reconstructed rooms.

Along the way, something important happened.

We weren’t just creating virtual tours. We were building a large, structured ground-truth dataset describing how real buildings are put together.

Today, that foundation is driving the next stage of Metareal.

02 / SPATIAL INTELLIGENCE

Building the missing spatial layer for AI

Modern multimodal AI can recognize objects, interpret images and describe scenes remarkably well.

But understanding a building requires something different.

It requires metric geometry. Persistent relationships between spaces. Multi-view consistency. Knowledge of rooms, walls, doors, windows and building systems. And the ability to understand how all of those elements relate across an entire property.

Metareal has spent more than eight years developing the reconstruction technology, classified dataset and domain-specific AI needed to solve those problems.

We are now using that foundation to develop reliable building intelligence from ordinary photographs — giving software, people and eventually AI agents a structured understanding of physical spaces.

03 / GROUNDED IN THE REAL WORLD

Technology grounded in the real world

Our technology has been shaped by years of production use rather than laboratory demonstrations alone.

Metareal is used for real estate marketing, property documentation, building operations and enterprise applications, ranging from individual properties to large institutional portfolios.

Those deployments have allowed us to develop our technology against the complexity of real buildings: imperfect spaces, unusual geometry, inconsistent lighting, renovations, multiple floors and the countless edge cases that appear outside controlled datasets.

That experience matters.

Reliable building intelligence has to work on the buildings people actually occupy and manage.

04 / OUR APPROACH

Capture less. Understand more.

We believe digitizing the built environment should not require expensive hardware or specialist surveying teams for every use case.

Our approach starts with something deliberately simple: photographs.

From lightweight visual capture, Metareal can progressively derive richer information — 3D geometry, floorplans, measurements, classified spaces, CAD/BIM outputs and structured building data.

The result is a system designed to make large-scale building digitization practical, affordable and repeatable.

05 / OPEN BY DESIGN

Built for an open ecosystem

Building information becomes much more valuable when it can move between systems.

That is why Metareal has always focused on interoperability rather than locking customers into a proprietary representation of their buildings.

Our platform supports standard outputs, integrations and developer tools that allow spatial information to become part of existing property, asset-management, CAD, BIM and enterprise workflows.

Ultimately, we see Metareal not simply as another place to store building data, but as a spatial intelligence layer for the built world.

06 / THE PEOPLE BEHIND METAREAL

Our team

Metareal brings together expertise in product design, computer vision, artificial intelligence, 3D reconstruction, software engineering and production.

The company is led by co-founders Gareth Morgan and Alexandre Jean Claude, supported by a multidisciplinary team developing the technology and production systems behind Metareal.

We share a long-term conviction: as AI becomes increasingly capable of understanding the digital world, understanding the physical world will become equally important.

Buildings are a very good place to start.

07 / LOOKING AHEAD

What comes next

There are billions of buildings in the world, and remarkably few of them exist as useful, machine-readable information.

We want to change that.

Our vision is a world in which any building can be captured quickly, understood computationally and made available as structured spatial intelligence — for the people who design, sell, inspect, operate, insure, maintain and ultimately interact with it.

We’re building the technology that connects AI to the built world.
